PREPARING PEOPLE FOR THE SECOND COMING OF JESUS CHRIST
OCTOBER 2, 2010
150th Anniversary of "Seventh-day Adventist" Name

Second Meeting House, Battle Creek, Michigan, 1860
Historic Rationale: On October 1, 1860, a group of Sabbath-keeping Adventists met in the Second Meeting House in Battle Creek, Michigan, to organize the fledgling church’s publishing work. As part of that process the name “Seventh-day Adventist” was chosen, not only for the soon-to-be-incorporated publishing house, but the name also was recommended to our local churches. In short, October 1, 2010, marks the 150th anniversary of the adoption of the name “Seventh-day Adventist.”
A Few of the Delegates:
The Lacey Seventh-day Adventist church, located at the intersection of Ruddell and Mullen Roads in Lacey, takes seriously the commission of Jesus Christ found in Matthew 28:19, 20. The members see the church, not as a physical building but as a community of people with one goal: to take Jesus Christ to the world. Their aim is to tell them that He loves and that He is coming soon to take any and all who love Him home to Heaven.
